Manchester United coach Eric Ten Hag has commented on what Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said about the possibility of the Dutchman replacing him at the Etihad Stadium after his departure.
A derby is expected in Manchester between United and City at the latter’s stadium, on Sunday, in the ninth round of the English Premier League, in their first appearance after the international break.
Guardiola, who may leave City in the near future, believes that Tin Hag may be one of the most prominent candidates to succeed him, which the Red Devils coach commented on in the derby press conference
What did Tin Hag say?
The 52-year-old, who previously worked in Pep’s coaching staff at Bayern Munich, told reporters: “It’s a very nice compliment from him, but I am 100% convinced of my decision to join Manchester United with everything in this club.”
“I have not regretted my decision to take this step at any time so far,” he added.
He continued, “I am very impressed with Guardiola, not only because he is a successful coach, but also because of his way of attracting people through his football.”
The phrase “so far” caused controversy among the Red Devils fans on social media, with some believing that Tin Hag was not sure of his position on the club, while others said it was related to his lack of English proficiency completely.
