Klopp defends himself after the City incident… and carries the worst news for Portugal!

German coach Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool coach, discussed the details of his expulsion in the Liverpool-Manchester City match last week in the English Premier League.

He said, “It is not the first time that he has understood my speech here calmly, if people are always prone to misunderstanding, I can not change a thing.”

And he added: “I have to be careful, sometimes I don’t say everything I think or criticize what I want, I say what I know and what I see, but you get the same results.”

And about what actually happened, he said: “I asked a question and answered it myself, I know what I was thinking and put it in a context that respects what they (the referees) do, but it is not right for some to do that, the most important thing is what we presented to our fans and the impressive level we played on Sunday.”

Klopp promised: “I will try to control more in the future, I don’t mean to blame anyone, I only care about talking about the big things, I say what I know and judge what I see, nothing happened before that negatively and it was my intention to do it.”

He nodded to Manchester City, saying: “There are 3 clubs in the world that can do whatever they like economically, I repeat that.”

And about the behavior of a fan towards Pep Guardiola by throwing a coin on the field, he said: “If someone throws a coin into the stadium, this is one fan, and it is a big mistake to punish him for such a simple act.”

And about some offensive banners in the Liverpool stands during the Manchester City match, Klopp said: “We certainly do not agree with that and we know very well the impact on children and families, and we will work with everyone to remove these matters.”

And he went back to talking about referee Anthony Taylor, who sent him off the field, saying: “I’m not happy with my reaction but that’s how it was, everyone saw it, I was sitting with Anthony Taylor after the match and I spoke calmly about the situation, but I got the red card.”

Portugal in trouble

Among the most important things that Klopp talked about during his conference, he dealt with the case of Portuguese Diogo Jota, who was injured during the Liverpool-Manchester City match.

Klopp shocked the Portuguese fans with Jota’s absence from the World Cup, stressing that the period of recovery from his injury would not help him to be with “Brazil of Europe”.
