Alvarez: I will use Messi to learn from him.. and I am not thinking about the World Cup now

The Argentine Julian Alvarez, the Manchester City striker, confirmed that playing alongside Lionel Messi and learning from him in the Argentina national team is an unparalleled opportunity.

Alvarez, 22, has 11 appearances for the Argentina national team and has already scored two goals since his debut in June 2021.

Alvarez appeared during the press conference dedicated to the Manchester City match against Seville in the sixth round of the group stage in the Champions League, and talked about Argentina’s chances in the World Cup, and what it represents for him to play next to Messi.

Alvarez said in his comments about Messi: “I only learn from watching him, it is difficult to imitate him, he is the best player in the world, I am lucky that I shared the dressing room and the training ground with him, now I have the opportunity to play alongside him and he can help me with my style.”

And he added about the statements of the Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola, that the Argentine national team is the first candidate to win the 2022 World Cup: “I do not know if he said it with conviction, we are in a good condition, but the tournament is difficult, we have to focus on all the details, because any match can hurt us, We have the opportunity and the confidence and we can play a good tournament.”

And whether he was worried about playing the World Cup for the first time, Alvarez said at the end of his speech: “We know about the World Cup, we know it is far away now, we have a lot to do here, we know what we have to do every day in Manchester City, there will be a lot of Time to think about the World Cup when we go to the national team.”
