UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has responded to a request from A22 Sports to give them an opportunity to address all the true representative authorities of European football.
During this meeting, the President of the European Union, in cooperation with high-level representatives of national leagues, clubs, players and fans, insisted on the complete rejection of the Super League project.
The European Union said on its official website that all the parties participating in the meeting still express their overwhelming rejection of this project, as they wish to preserve the unity enjoyed by the clubs in the current system.
UEFA explained: “We express our total rejection of the Super League projects, and are surprised by the claims of the CEO of “A22 Sports” that this company does not represent any clubs in any capacity, including the three clubs that continue to support the project in public.”
He added: “UEFA and its stakeholders remain fully committed to the foundations of European football, which are based on openness and solidarity in the service of sporting principles and social interests, rather than excellence and self-entitlement.”
The European Union ended its statement by revealing the names of the attendees of this meeting, led by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, Javier Tebas, president of the Spanish League, and Oliver Kahn, president of Bayern Munich.
