One of Liverpool’s summer signings will miss the Champions League clash with Bologna after sustaining a minor issue in training.
The recent arrival was not present with the rest of the squad for their open session in front of the media on Tuesday morning.
Diogo Jota was also absent but Liverpool head coach Arne Slot expects him to be in the squad to face the Serie A side at Anfield.
Slot said: ‘Diogo missed two sessions after the Wolves game as he took a knock. I’m expecting to be with us tomorrow.
‘Federico (Chiesa) trained with us yesterday and came in today with some problems and I’m not expecting him to be in the team tomorrow, which is a pity for us and for him as well as he was looking forward to a Champions League night at Anfield, especially against an Italian team.
‘I’m not expecting him to be out for a very long period of time but this game is not possible for him and we have to wait to see if he can be in the team on Saturday (against Crystal Palace).’
Chiesa, who joined from Juventus over the summer, has made three appearances for the club in all competitions, contributing one assist so far.
Forward Darwin Nunez, who missed Saturday’s win at Wolves through illness, is back in training and could come in for Jota, while left-back Andy Robertson, who had been forced off at Molineux with a knock, was also present.
The Reds go in search of a second win the competition on Wednesday night, having comfortably dispatched AC Milan in their Champions League opener last month.
Slot has enjoyed a great start to life at Anfield, with Saturday’s win over Wolves taking the side to a record of seven wins in eight matches under the Dutchman.
