Napoli are reportedly close to finalising the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Napoli directors will meet with Chelsea in London in the next 24 hours as they look to secure a deal.
Romano adds that all of the parties involved in the deal expect Lukaku to join Napoli.
Lukaku has two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea wanting a fee close to his release clause of £36million.
The 31-year-old has spent the past couple of seasons out on loan in Italy, firstly at Inter Milan and then at Roma.
If the move goes ahead then Lukaku will be reunited with Antonio Conte, who he previously worked under at Inter.
In the 2020-21 season Lukaku scored 24 league goals as Conte’s Inter won the Serie A title. Lukaku had also netted 23 times in the league during the previous campaign.
Lukaku, who rejoined Chelsea in 2021, is set to bring his second spell with the Blues to an end.
Across his two stints at Chelsea Lukaku has scored 15 goals in 59 appearances.
He has also played for Everton and Manchester United as well as having a spell as a permanent Inter player.
Chelsea are eager for further outgoings as they look to reduce the significant amount of players on their books.
Chelsea remain in talks with Napoli over the potential signing of Victor Osimhen in what what be a separate deal to the Lukaku transfer.
Osimhen boasts an impressive record of 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli but wasn’t involved as Conte’s side lost 3-0 to Hellas Verona in the opening game of the Serie A season.
